Regional Indoor Athletics Competition

On Tuesday 20th January 2026, a team of 15 boys across Years 7 and 8 represented Washwood Heath Academy at the regional Indoor Athletics Competition organised by the Central Sports Partnership and held at Billesley Indoor Tennis Centre, Birmingham.

The pupils competed against strong opposition from 17 schools in a wide range of track and field events including relays, middle-distance races, individual sprints, jumps, throws and speed bounce. 

Both the Year 7 Boys and Year 8 Boys teams performed with commitment and determination throughout the day, finishing in 6th place in their respective age groups. 

As a standout achievement, the Year 8 Boys team finished 1st within their regional area which means they have qualified for the Indoor Athletics County Finals on Tuesday 24th March 2026.

This was a great effort by all involved with pupils demonstrating excellent teamwork, resilience and sporting behaviour throughout the competition. They were a real credit to the school and should be extremely proud of their performances.
